As the countdown to the 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations continues, candidates at Sawagongo High School have turned to prayer, seeking God’s guidance, strength and wisdom as they prepare for one of the most important milestones in their academic journey.

The school held its 2026 KCSE Prayer Day on October 9, bringing together students, teachers, parents, school administrators and other members of the school community in a moment of faith, hope and encouragement.
Led by The Rt. Rev. John Mark Haung Godia, the service gave the candidates an opportunity to place their hopes and fears before God as they prepare to face the examinations.

For the students, who have spent years working towards this moment, the gathering was a reminder that they are not alone in the journey. Behind them are teachers who have guided them, parents who have sacrificed for their education and a school community that believes in their potential.
A school united behind its candidates
Principal Henry Airo joined teachers, parents and students in the prayer service, demonstrating the school’s commitment to supporting its learners as they approach the examinations.
The final stretch before KCSE can be a demanding period for candidates, with the pressure to perform often accompanied by anxiety and uncertainty. The prayer day offered them a chance to pause, reflect and draw encouragement from the people who have walked alongside them throughout their education.

It was also an opportunity for the school community to renew its commitment to the candidates, recognising that preparing young people for examinations goes beyond classroom lessons and revision.
Teachers have spent months guiding learners through their subjects, correcting mistakes and helping them build confidence. Parents, too, have played their part by providing support and encouraging their children to remain focused on their goals.
Faith and hard work go hand in hand
Presiding over the service, The Rt. Rev. John Mark Haung Godia led the congregation in seeking God’s wisdom, protection, good health and favour for the candidates as they prepare for their examinations.

The gathering reinforced the importance of faith, discipline, perseverance and integrity as the students approach this defining stage of their education.
While the prayers offered spiritual encouragement, the message to the candidates remained clear: they must continue working hard, use their remaining revision time wisely and approach every paper with a calm and confident mind.
After years of learning, the examinations will provide an opportunity for the candidates to demonstrate what they have acquired in the classroom and take another step towards their dreams.

Looking towards the future
For Sawagongo High School, the prayer day was more than a religious ceremony. It was an expression of love, support and shared hope for a group of young people preparing to take an important step towards adulthood.
As the candidates prepare to enter the examination rooms, they carry with them not only the knowledge gained from their teachers but also the encouragement of their parents, the guidance of their school leadership and the prayers of their community.

The hope is that they will remain focused, disciplined and confident, giving their best as they pursue the results that will open doors to future opportunities.
With the 2026 KCSE examinations approaching, Sawagongo High School has rallied behind its candidates, sending them forward with a message of faith, determination and belief in their ability to succeed.
