Ten candidates at Maseno School have earned a special treat after performing impressively in the 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mock examinations.

The students have been rewarded with a trip to Kenya’s coast in recognition of their hard work and strong academic performance. The school hopes the gesture will motivate them as they prepare for the national examinations.
The initiative was facilitated by the Board of Management (BOM) Chairperson, Adv. Ambrose Otieno Weda, in partnership with the school’s Chief Principal, Mr Peter Owino, OGW.
For the ten candidates, the trip is more than a chance to enjoy the coastal scenery. It is also an opportunity to relax, recharge and return to their books with renewed energy as they prepare for the final examinations.

Celebrating hard work and encouraging excellence
Mock examinations give candidates an important chance to assess their readiness for the KCSE, identify areas that need improvement and build confidence before the national examinations.
By rewarding the best-performing students, Maseno School is recognising the effort and discipline that have brought them this far while encouraging them to keep up the momentum.

The gesture also sends a strong message to the wider student population: hard work, consistency and commitment to academic goals can earn recognition.
Rather than focusing only on examination results, the initiative highlights the importance of motivating learners and appreciating their progress along the way.
School leadership invests in learner motivation
The initiative shows the important role school leadership and governance can play in creating an environment where learners feel encouraged to do their best.
Through the collaboration between Adv. Ambrose Otieno Weda and Chief Principal Peter Owino, the school has demonstrated its commitment to recognising achievement while keeping candidates focused on the work ahead.

Such initiatives complement the efforts of teachers and parents, whose guidance, encouragement and support remain essential as students navigate the demanding final months of secondary school.
For the candidates, knowing that their efforts have been noticed and appreciated could provide an extra boost as they approach one of the most important examinations of their academic journey.

A well-deserved break before the final push
Away from the classroom, the coastal vacation gives the ten students a chance to experience a different environment, relax and spend time together outside their usual academic routine.
The break comes at an important time, as candidates are expected to intensify their revision, address weaknesses identified during the mocks and sharpen their examination techniques.
With the KCSE approaching, the challenge will be to turn the promising mock results into strong performance in the final examinations.
Setting the pace for KCSE 2026
For the ten candidates, the coastal trip is both a reward for their achievement and an encouragement to aim even higher.
Their recognition also serves as an inspiration to fellow students, reminding them that excellence is built through discipline, determination and sustained effort.

As Maseno School prepares for the 2026 KCSE examinations, the hope is that the initiative will inspire more candidates to stay focused and approach their examinations with confidence.
At Maseno School, the message is simple: hard work deserves recognition, and with the right motivation, today’s promising performance can become tomorrow’s success.
