In a heartwarming display of community support and sportsmanship, renowned Mumias philanthropist and Bunge Football Club Patron Hon. Hamisi Waswa has pledged to facilitate the transportation of supporters from Mumias to Thika for the upcoming Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Ball Games.
The initiative is aimed at ensuring that St. Martha’s Mwitoti Secondary School, the reigning Western Region Volleyball Champions, receive massive moral support as they battle for national honours.
In a statement released by Bunge Football Club, the club expressed its commitment to mobilizing and transporting fans to Thika, describing the move as a gesture of appreciation for a school that has consistently made Western Kenya proud through outstanding performances in volleyball.
Supporters wishing to travel have been urged to register with the Bunge FC Club Secretary before the stipulated deadline to allow for proper logistical arrangements.
Speaking on the initiative, Hamisi Waswa said supporting young people through sports is one of the greatest investments any community can make.
“St. Martha’s Mwitoti has carried the hopes of Western Kenya for many years through exceptional volleyball. As a community, we must stand with these girls and give them the encouragement they deserve. We believe they have what it takes to bring the national trophy home. Let us fill the stands in Thika and show them that Mumias stands firmly behind them.”
The philanthropist further challenged other well-wishers and corporate partners to invest more in school sports, noting that talent development plays a vital role in shaping disciplined and successful young people.
The school’s Principal, Mr. Sammy Ogola, welcomed the gesture, terming it a major morale booster for the players ahead of the national championship.
“We sincerely appreciate Mr. Hamisi Waswa and Bunge FC for this generous support. Our girls have worked tirelessly throughout the season, and knowing that they will have supporters cheering them on from the stands gives them extra motivation.
