Coperatives Cabinet Secretary Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya has convened a major Shirikiana SACCO sensitisation forum in Mumias, bringing together more than 500 delegates from Matungu, Mumias West and Mumias East as the cooperative moves to expand financial support beyond conventional savings and loans.
The meeting, held at ACK Cathedral Mumias, focused on how the SACCO can help members deal with the financial demands that confront families every day, including school fees, healthcare, SHA premiums and emergencies.
Oparanya’s convening of the forum underscores the importance being placed on strengthening the cooperative movement and ensuring that financial services reach ordinary members at the grassroots.
Shirikiana SACCO is positioning itself as more than a place to borrow money. Through its cooperative model, members will be able to save, access affordable financing and plan for essential family needs.
Healthcare is among the key areas of focus, with the SACCO set to facilitate members in meeting their SHA premium payments. Members will also receive support for education expenses and last-expense needs, providing families with some financial cushioning when difficult moments arise.
