There was pomp and colour at S.A. Kolanya Boys’ Senior School on Thursday as the institution held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and officially commissioned a brand-new 67-seater school bus in a colourful ceremony that attracted top government officials, education stakeholders, parents and students.

The event marked another milestone for the prestigious Boys school, renowned for its consistent academic excellence and impressive performance in national examinations.
The ceremony was graced by Principal Secretary for Basic Education Dr. John Lekakeny Ololtuaa, CBS, who represented Cabinet Secretary for Education Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba, Principal Administrative Secretary in the Office of the President Arthur Amug Osiya, Teso North Member of Parliament Hon. Oku Kaunya, members of the Board of Management, education officials, parents and students.

Speaking during the function, Hon. Oku Kaunya congratulated the Board of Management, Chief Principal Mr. Jackton Indimuli, teachers, parents and students for steering the institution to national prominence through consistent academic excellence and exemplary discipline.
“Education remains the strongest foundation for transforming lives and communities. I urge our students to remain disciplined, work smart and continue striving for even greater academic success,” said the MP.

In a major boost to the school’s development agenda, Hon. Kaunya pledged to mobilize KSh10 million, in partnership with the National Government, towards the completion of the school’s modern administration block.
He noted that the same collaborative approach had successfully delivered key development projects at Kolanya Girls and appealed to the Ministry of Education to elevate S.A. Kolanya Boys’ Senior School to C1 status, citing its outstanding academic performance, expanding enrolment and improved infrastructure.

Representing Education Cabinet Secretary Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba, Principal Secretary Dr. John Lekakeny Ololtuaa praised S.A. Kolanya Boys for maintaining high academic standards and investing in infrastructure that enhances the quality of education.

“The Ministry of Education is proud of institutions like S.A. Kolanya Boys that continue to set the pace in academic excellence, discipline and holistic learner development. We remain committed to supporting schools through improved infrastructure and quality education programmes,” said Dr. Ololtuaa.
He encouraged learners to remain focused, disciplined and resilient, emphasizing that hard work and integrity remain the cornerstones of success.
Principal Administrative Secretary Arthur Amug Osiya commended the school for becoming a centre of academic excellence and leadership, saying its achievements reflect visionary leadership, dedicated teachers and supportive parents.

He urged education stakeholders to continue investing in learning institutions, noting that quality education remains the surest pathway to national development and socio-economic transformation.
Chief Principal Mr. Jackton Indimuli thanked the Ministry of Education, parents, the Board of Management and all development partners for their unwavering support, saying the institution’s continued success was a result of teamwork and shared commitment.
“The commissioning of this new 67-seater bus is a significant milestone in our journey. It will improve the mobility of our students during academic programmes and co-curricular activities while enhancing safety and comfort. We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to the growth of this great institution,” said Mr. Indimuli.

He reaffirmed the school’s commitment to sustaining academic excellence, nurturing discipline and investing in programmes that prepare learners to become responsible and productive citizens.
Parents attending the AGM applauded the school’s leadership for prudent management and its sustained culture of excellence, expressing optimism that the newly commissioned bus and the planned administration block would further strengthen the institution’s capacity.
