Joysil Preparatory School Posts Stellar Results in 2025 KJSEA Exams

Joysil Preparatory School in Matungu Sub-county, Kakamega County, has posted exceptional results in the 2025 KJSEA national examinations, reaffirming its status as one of the top-performing schools in Western Kenya.

The school’s leading candidate, Clare Anyango Manyasi, scored 71 points to emerge top after exceeding expectations in all subjects.

She was closely followed by Glenjohnson Opili Silvano and Sophie Gloria Onyiso, who completed the top three positions.

According to the school’s performance analysis, 24 out of 35 candidates scored in the Exceeding Expectations category, while the remaining 11 met expectations, marking one of the strongest overall performances in the region.

School Director Sylvester Angoye Musikoyo praised the outcome, attributing the success to rigorous preparation and a stable learning environment. He noted that the candidates had consistently performed well in internal assessments, a trend that was reflected in the national results.

Joysil Preparatory has maintained an impressive academic record over the years. This year’s top candidate, Clare Manyasi, continues a family legacy of excellence.

Her elder sister, Stacy Manyasi, previously topped the now-defunct KCPE examinations with over 420 marks, earning admission to St. Brigid’s Kiminini.

While releasing the results nationally, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba Migosi reported that about 75 per cent of candidates scored between Approaching Expectations and Below Expectations.

Many public schools recorded weak performance, largely due to overcrowded classrooms, high teacher-to-learner ratios and limited supervision.

In contrast, private schools such as Joysil Preparatory performed significantly better, a success attributed to smaller class sizes, closer teacher monitoring and personalised learner support.

Mr. Musikoyo expressed confidence that all Joysil candidates would secure placement in their preferred national schools. He said the institution has a consistent system of nurturing learners into responsible ambassadors of the school.

Joysil Preparatory School has produced high-achieving learners for over a decade. Recently, Mr. Musikoyo was honoured as a National Hero (Shujaa) in recognition of his contribution to education in Matungu and beyond.

The school now celebrates another milestone as its 2025 class ranks among the best-performing cohorts in Kakamega County.
