Since it’s establishment in 2023 by Mr. Peter Kariuki, the facility has gradually grown into a place where people come not only to sweat, but also to relax, clear their minds and take better care of themselves.
And perhaps what makes it even more attractive is the price.
A session costs only KSh.500.
For many residents, that makes the wellness experience affordable and accessible without having to dig too deeply into their pockets.
‘Sometimes you just need to breathe’
HAWA Kassim, the manager of Kings & Queens Sauna, the business is about people.
She says the idea is rooted in understanding the pressures that ordinary people face every day.
“People work hard every day. They deal with stress, tiredness and pressure. Sometimes you just need a place to stop, relax and breathe,” Kassim says. That human touch is at the heart of the facility.
According to Hawa, clients are not simply coming in for steam. They are coming for an experience — a chance to switch off for a while and leave feeling lighter and refreshed.
“We want our clients to come in, relax and leave feeling refreshed. It is about the whole experience,” she says.
For the Co-Director Emmanuel Kariuki, Kings & Queens is slowly becoming more than just a sauna.
“We want to build more than a sauna. We want to create a wellness community where people can learn about their bodies, relaxation and healthy living,” he says.
It is a vision that seeks to make wellness part of everyday life rather than something people only think about when they are unwell.
And with a Sh500 session, the management believes more people can afford to make relaxation part of their routine.
Zulpha’s remarkable journey.
Among the clients with a story to tell is Zulpha a nurse from one of the Health facilities in Mumias, whose personal wellness journey has left her impressed.
Zulpha says she has shed a whopping 12 kilogrammes in four months, during a period in which sauna sessions have been part of her wellness routine.
“It has really made a difference for me. I have seen changes in my body, and that has encouraged me to continue taking care of myself,” she says.
Her story has become a source of encouragement to other clients who are also working towards healthier lifestyles.
From Kisumu to Lukoye.
Kings & Queens is also beginning to attract clients from outside Mumias.
Mrs. Awour of Kisumu, who suffered a stroke, says her condition has drastically improved and that she has found the wellness experience beneficial as part of her broader recovery journey.
“I have seen a great improvement in my state,” she says.
