Students of St. Maurice Mwira Senior School in Mayoni Ward, Matungu Constituency, have received a major boost after the Fredrick Watitwa Foundation donated more than 250 blankets and other essential personal items to learners affected by the devastating dormitory fire that destroyed students’ belongings.

The donation, delivered on Tuesday by Mrs. Jamillah Washika on behalf of the foundation, brought relief and renewed hope to the school community as learners continue recovering from the unfortunate incident that disrupted their lives and studies.

The fire, which razed one of the school’s dormitories, left many students without basic personal belongings, prompting appeals for support from well-wishers. Responding to the call, the Fredrick Watitwa Foundation stepped in with humanitarian assistance aimed at helping the affected learners regain stability and continue with their education.

Speaking during the donation exercise, the foundation reaffirmed its commitment to standing with communities during difficult moments, noting that education remains a key pillar of development and that no learner should be disadvantaged because of unforeseen disasters.

The blankets and other personal effects are expected to ease the burden on affected families while enabling students to settle back into school life with dignity and confidence.
