St. Paul’s Kibabii Diploma Teachers Training College held its 15th graduation ceremony in a colourful event that saw 155 graduates conferred with diplomas in education.
Mr Barasa Saul Wafula, the college Chief Principal, congratulated the entire 2024 class on completing their courses.
“We thank God for the success the college has attained through your good work in the examination, which is the culmination of the 8-4-4 system. It is an honour seeing you cross the milestone. Your hard work and cooperation are commendable,” said Mr Barasa.
He added, “As you begin your career, exercise the great lessons and values of professionalism that you have acquired and developed from this great institution. You are joining the teaching service at a time when the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) is being implemented at all levels and you must look for further opportunities to upgrade your skills to meet the CBC needs.”
Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Maurice Odondo and the Western Region Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Director, were among the guests who graced the event.
Dr Odondo congratulated the graduands for their hard work, determination, commitment and impressive perfoamcne and reiterated that completing studies at this time was a remarkable achievement.
Dr Odondo also congratulated the Board of Management for being committed and having a dream.
It is worth noting that since its inception, the college has played a competent role in shaping future trainers.
According to Dr Odondo, teachers play a critical role in the society, “You are more than the educator, you are the architect of the future, the builder of the character and the bearer of the cultural and moral heritage.”
He added, “The students who will come into your class are more than young minds who will be seeking knowledge. They are dreamers, potential leaders and hope of our nation and they will look unto you hoping you guide them not only on matters of academics but also in life.”
He encouraged them to be lifelong learners and add value to themselves as they embark on their respective journeys.
TSC Regional Director congratulated the graduands for their hard work and determination. He also commended the parents and guardians for the support they gave them by paying fees and seeing them where they were.
Mr Director challenged the graduands to grab the opportunity whether voluntary so that they can be able to get the needed experience.
He challenged the graduands to prepare themselves to have them absorbed by the TSC.
Prof Simiyu Wandibba, the BOM chair thanked the CEO KEMI for honouring an invitation to grace the 15th graduation ceremony.
He also thanked the graduands for their good performance in the last Diploma Teacher Education, which he said had taken their commitment and hard work to realise their goals.
“Today, the Kibabii fraternity proudly releases you to the career world with a lot of confidence that you will deliver efficient services wherever you will be placed,” he said.
Prof. Wandibba hailed the growth of the college and asked the graduands to make a positive impact wherever they will serve.
St. Paul Kibabii has tremendously grown in infrastructural development, thanks to the Ministry of Education’s funding.
Through the Kenya Primary Education Equity in Learning – (KPEEL) the college has been able to put the necessary structures among them IT-hub and smart classrooms and remained optimistic that tuition block phase II will be realised.

Akumu John Odiwour: Best candidate in practical teaching examination (TP)
Chebo Kituyi: Best Sportsman.
Sylvia Chepchirchir: Best Sportswoman.
Rashid Sande: Chairman, Students Council.
Paul Otieno: All round student.
