Education infrastructure took center stage on Monday as national and county leaders joined Shinyalu Member of Parliament Hon. Fred Ikana for the official commissioning of the newly constructed Shanjero Modern Classrooms in Isukha Central Ward.
The project, aimed at improving the learning environment for pupils, was hailed as a major investment in the future of the area’s children and a significant step towards enhancing the quality of education in Kakamega County.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, leaders emphasized that quality education begins with quality infrastructure, noting that modern classrooms create a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning while inspiring academic excellence among learners.
“Investing in educational infrastructure is an investment in the future of our children. Modern learning facilities provide learners with a safe and conducive environment to develop their talents and realize their full potential,” the leaders said.

Hon. Ikana said his office remains committed to supporting projects that improve access to education and uplift the lives of residents through sustainable development initiatives.
The event attracted several high-profile leaders, including President’s Aide Farouk Kibet, Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka, Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula , Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda, Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe among others.
Also present were Members of the County Assembly, religious leaders, education stakeholders, local administrators and residents, who praised the project as a timely investment that will improve learning outcomes and benefit generations of learners.

The commissioning of the Shanjero Modern Classrooms adds to the growing list of education development projects being undertaken in the region as leaders continue to advocate for improved infrastructure to support quality learning across Kakamega County.
