Buoyed by impressive performance in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2024 where the school posted a mean of 8.20 (B-) and sent over 398 students to the university, St Mary’s Mumias Girls High School has unveiled an ambitious mean target of 9.015 in 2025.
The target is set to elevate the school to a higher profile as a top performer regionally and at the national level.
It is worth noting that the school was ranked 5th in the Western Region and second in Kakamega County.

With a rallying theme from the book of Esther 4:24, the 2025 candidates were encouraged to occupy the royal position just like the biblical Esther.
“Success is my duty, my obligation and responsibility. I will work, I will succeed, I will make my school, my parents and myself proud. I can, I will,” the candidates pronounced.
Parents, teachers and all stakeholders gathered together to witness the official launch of the 2025 target in a ceremony that was graced by the renowned motivational speaker Mr Sam Vidambu.
Mrs Monica Buchichi, the school’s Senior Principal expressed her faith in the ability of the 2025 class to perform beyond expectations. She said that in 2025, they are going to produce more A’s in the history of the school just like the christened “A stars”.

She affirmed that her vision at St Mary’s is bigger than fear and asked for generous support from the parents pointing out that the school is the best for the girl child in the region.
She appealed to parents to pay school fees on time to enable the smooth operation of the school programmes and at the same time to avoid wasting time as students miss a lot while at home for fees.
“I understand that things are tough but I humbly ask you parents to prioritise the needs of your children,” she said.
Mr Sam Vidambu challenged the candidates on how posting impressive performances in exams can do to their lives.
According to Mr Vidambu, Good results can bring respect, make people forget their mistakes, get them many friends, change the status of their parents and above all bring one closer to God.
Mr Vidambu narrated how his family background never prevented him from breaking the glass ceiling by posting an impressive performance from a little-known school in the Likuyani sub-county to be what he is today.
“As candidates, you need to give attention to content mastery, delivery and retention as this is what will help you in exams,” Vidambu said.
Syllabus coverage is very key and the teachers together with parents were asked to come up with superstructures aimed at completing the syllabus in good time to enable candidates to have some reasonable time to prepare for the exams as early as possible.
Mrs Brenda Wandera, the Deputy Principal of Administration thanked the parents for their cooperation and support, especially on matters of discipline noting that so far, she has never encountered any indiscipline case pitting the 2025 candidates and prayed that the girls will continue behaving well.
She however asked parents to disclose the underlying health conditions of their children to avoid issues on matters health of the students.
