The Goibei Girls High School community from Hamisi Sub-county, Vihiga County, on Saturday joined family and friends of Madam Gladys Avisu, the school’s cateress, to mourn the death of her husband, Mr. Fredrick Anabaka Kadima — a respected teacher and educationist from Matungu, Namamali Ward.
Mr. Kadima was celebrated as a dedicated teacher who mentored countless students during his teaching career across various schools in the Western region, including Goibei Girls, Keveye Girls, Eshikhondi Secondary, Shibale Secondary, and his most recent posting at Kimang’eti Secondary School in Lugari.
Colleagues from across the teaching fraternity eulogised him as a disciplined, humble, and committed professional who left a lasting impact wherever he served.

Dr. Spacia Akello, the Sub-county Director of Education for Mumias West, described Mr. Kadima as an astute administrator known for his integrity and modesty.
“I worked closely with him while at Shibale Secondary and was impressed by his honesty and sound financial management. When his head teacher, Mr. Ernest Webukha, was transferred to Lubanga Secondary, Mr. Kadima took over in an acting capacity and handled the school with great transparency until a substantive head was posted. He truly was a man of integrity,” Dr. Akello said.
Mr. Kennedy Wekesa, who taught alongside Mr. Kadima at Eshikhondi Secondary School, remembered him as “a man of few words” who valued teamwork and professionalism.

The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) officials from Mumias West and Matungu also mourned the late teacher, describing him as “a dependable force” in promoting school sports.
“We will always cherish the moments we shared in shaping sports in our sub-county,” said Mr. Wesa Habakkuk, the KSSSA secretary for Matungu.
Dr. Rose Koech, the Chief Principal of Goibei Girls High School, comforted the widow, urging her to remain steadfast in faith.

“Your husband went to be with the Lord two weeks ago. What we are laying to rest today is only the body. Be firm in the Lord, stay focused, and seek His guidance. As a school, we will stand by you,” Dr. Koech assured.
She added that Mr. Kadima was once a teacher at Goibei Girls in the late 1990s and continued to be part of the school community even after leaving the staff.
“He lived with his family within the school and always identified with us. He was among the best teachers of his time. Go thee well, Mwalimu Kadima,” she said.
Dr. Koech led a delegation of Board of Management members, teachers, and support staff from Goibei Girls to Matungu to condole with Madam Avisu and her family.
Go thee well, Mr. Fredrick Kadima.
