Lwanya Girls Set on an Upward Trajectory

The school had a mean score of 7.514 (C+) up from 5.7333 in 2022, sending 247 students direct to university.

Discipline, teamwork, early syllabus coverage and creating sufficient time for revision are among the reasons that pushed St Stephen Lwanya Girls High School to the top.

Other reasons included character formation, involving teachers and parents in student welfare, a strong religious foundation and prayer.

Under the headship of the soft-spoken Mrs Mary Waliaula, Lwanya High School has been building on the success so far achieved and improving an area of weakness to achieve the top position in the region which has been a reserve of the few schools over the years while competing at the top in the public schools category.

Mrs Waliaula says hard work is the secret to school success: “One has to obey hard work, however obedience to hard work is blind at times and requires the suspension of reason for one to succeed.”

The principal says her staff equally spent the midnight oil in preparing the 2023 candidates to excel at the top.

She said teachers have changed tact and adopted new strategies in teaching methods as students differ in their performance at the end to improve their basic understanding of their subjects.

The school was position four with the largest number of students who acquired direct entry to public universities.

247 candidates scored above the minimum university entry grade of C+ and above with the top girl scoring an A-

The 2023 class which was dubbed the record-breaker, indeed broke the record by registering a mean of 7.514 (C+) up from 5.7333 in 2022.

The hardworking Principal has put in proper structures all aimed at producing quality results in national exams.
