Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) has welcomed 2,400 new students into its 2026/2027 academic cohort, marking the beginning of a new chapter for thousands of young scholars joining the institution in pursuit of higher education.

The new students were officially admitted into the university during a colourful matriculation ceremony held at the University Hockey Pitch, bringing together university administrators, staff, students and distinguished guests to celebrate the latest addition to the Kaimosi Friends University community.

The ceremony was graced by Principal Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development, Prof. Jane Imbunya, who joined the university fraternity in welcoming the new cohort.

Kaimosi Friends University Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita challenged the students to view their admission as more than an academic milestone, urging them to make the most of their university experience by pursuing excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

Prof. Mwita assured the new students that the university remains committed to creating an environment where they can discover their potential, sharpen their talents and prepare themselves for meaningful contribution to society.

He encouraged the scholars to actively participate in research, innovation, leadership, talent development and community service, noting that university life presents opportunities for students to grow intellectually, professionally and personally.

The Vice Chancellor also urged the students to remain focused on their academic aspirations while taking advantage of the diverse opportunities available within the institution.

For the 2,400 freshmen and women, the ceremony signalled the formal start of a journey expected to shape their careers, character and future contribution to the country.

The celebrations later turned lively as members of the university community joined the new students in a cake-cutting ceremony and dance, creating a memorable welcome for the 2026/2027 cohort.

As the celebrations came to an end, the message to the new scholars was clear: their admission marks not the destination, but the beginning of a transformative journey at what the university proudly describes as the “Spring of Knowledge.”
