A new voice is emerging in the political landscape of Bungoma County, with Lusaria making her entry into elective politics with a mission centred on women empowerment, equality and stronger community representation.

Born and bred in Tongaren Constituency, Lusaria says her decision to venture into politics has been shaped by years of engagement with women and communities, where she has championed initiatives aimed at helping women discover their potential, build confidence and improve their livelihoods.

Her entry comes at a time when political leadership in Bungoma and the wider Western Kenya region remains largely dominated by men. Lusaria believes the time has come for more women to step forward, compete for elective positions and take an active role in shaping decisions that affect their families and communities.

For her, politics is not simply about occupying an office. It is about creating an avenue through which she can expand the work she has already been doing at the grassroots.

Having closely followed political developments and sentiments on the ground, Lusaria has indicated that she intends to align herself with the Linda Mwananchi movement and support Senator Edwin Sifuna, saying her political direction will be guided by the aspirations and demands she encounters within the community.

Her immediate political ambition is to contest for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) position in Tongaren, where she hopes to translate her grassroots engagement into formal leadership.

Lusaria’s political journey is also anchored in her long-standing commitment to women. She has supported women in different ways, encouraging them to invest in themselves, acquire skills, become economically empowered and participate confidently in community affairs.

Now, she wants to take that agenda a step further.
