Buoyed by impressive results in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Ramba Boys High School in Rarieda Sub-county, Siaya County, is already up and running to even better the results in 2025. The school has already set a mean target of 8.2 for 2025.
Chief Principal Mr Wyclifee Mwambwa Manoa notes teamwork, personal commitment, content mastery and the pronounced school policy of “Teach, Test and Reteach” are among measures that the leading institution has adopted over time and enabled it to achieve the target mean of 7.6680 in the 2024 examination.
Mr Mwambwa avers that candidates are subjected to Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs) and Random Assessment Tests (RATs), not forgetting serial examinations for Forms One to Three.

The school being a STEM, more emphasis is given on science practicals done weekly by the candidates.
“Syllabus coverage is key, the school has empowered class secretaries who give honest feedback on lesson attendance by teachers so that the syllabus is covered on time. No teacher misses a lesson in this school as I track everything,” Mr Mwambwa said.
He added, “We have a policy of completing the syllabus by the first term so that we can embark on the process of preparing candidates well. This, among other measures, has helped us achieve our set targets.”
Last year, over 380 students scored above the minimum university entry grade of C+ and above where the top student scored an A plain of 83 points.

“We have a very good candidate class for 2025 and nothing will stop us from impressing in exams. We also strive for genuine results and we believe in our students,” he said.
The Principal said he has never condoned exam malpractices in life as a teacher and as an administrator, and further noted that they have cases where students cheat in exams and when assigned premier courses at the University, they end up dropping them.
The Principal was accredited for stabilising performance at Emusire High School in Vihiga and Sori High School in Migori County before he moved to Ramba.
“When I joined this school three years ago, I had a session with the stakeholders (parents, teachers and students) and assured them we were going to prepare students pretty well considering their entry behaviour and that they should just support us,” he said.

He said the majority of the boys have very high self-esteem and they know that at Ramba, you must perform regardless.
Mr Mwambwa avers that when he joined the leading boys’ school, he put in proper measures and that time is a factor as he leads from the front.
“At no point have I slept at my home ever since I set foot here. We have tailor-made programmes that are working very well and I lead a team of dedicated teachers,” he said.
Being an Anglican-sponsored school, religious matters are given the seriousness they deserve as the school believes a healthy body and mind must work together thanks to measures and foundation put in place by Bishop Prof. David Kodia who is also a parent in the school.
Strict academic programmes at Ramba have made the Principal a darling to the majority of the parents.
It is argued that all the teachers at Ramba Boys High School know their purpose of being in school which is to build the intellect and the character of the boys and this has worked well.
Following the measures already in place, the Principal said they already have a good class and are going to give credible results in the 2025 exams.
