Kaimosi Boys High School held its Annual General Meeting themed “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest,” highlighting the institution’s remarkable progress under the leadership of Senior Principal Haron Kweyu.
Principal Kweyu Highlights Strides in Academics and Discipline
Mr Kweyu expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education (MOE), Teachers Service Commission (TSC), parents, and teachers for their unwavering support. He attributed the school’s success to the dedication of teachers, strong teamwork, and the exceptional discipline of learners.
“Our relentless focus has seen the school’s mean score rise from 3.4 in 2017 to an impressive 7.8, making us the best-performing school in the sub-county,” he announced.

The principal also commended his deputies for their effective leadership in academics and administration, which has solidified the school’s reputation. “Discipline cases are nearly nonexistent because our students understand their purpose here,” he added.
Preparedness for CBC Transition
As secondary schools prepare for transition to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), Kaimosi Boys is already ahead, having introduced new technical subjects like Drawing and Design. “We are fully prepared to handle the three pathways and look forward to welcoming Grade 10 learners next year,” Mr Kweyu assured.
Recognition in Sports and Academics
Beyond academics, the school has excelled in sports, with teams competing up to regional levels last year. The outgoing Board of Management (BOM) was also lauded for its guidance.
MP Gimose Pledges Support, Bursaries, and Infrastructure Development
Hamisi Member of Parliament, Hon. Charles Gimose, received special appreciation for his support, including a planned KSh40 million multipurpose hall and bursaries for needy students.

“I am proud to be associated with Kaimosi Boys’ success. The principal’s leadership has ensured zero indiscipline cases in three years,” said Hon. Gimose. He also urged the school to admit more local students and promised to attend the next BOM meeting to discuss further development plans.
The MP issued 80 bursary forms to deserving students and humorously requested the County Director of Education, Mr. David Koech, “With humility, allow Mr Kweyu to retire here—we still need his leadership!”
Challenges
Despite the successes, the school faces challenges, including:
– Poor fee payments (parents urged to clear arrears).
– Shortage of teachers, especially in technical subjects.
– Need for expanded facilities (e.g., library).
County Officials Applaud School’s Excellence
Vihiga County Director of Education, Mr David Koech, praised Kaimosi Boys for its academics, discipline, and co-curricular achievements. “This school impresses us in every aspect. We have recommended it as a STEM centre and will assign 600 students next year,” he revealed.
TSC and Community Leaders Rally Support

– Esther Shikote (Shaviringa Chief) reminded parents to monitor their children during holidays, calling education “the greatest equaliser.”
– Hon. Bob Mwashi (MCA) challenged MP Gimose to increase support, citing the school’s “tremendous progress.”
