The once sleepy Goibei Girls High School in Banja Ward, Hamisi Sub-county of Vihiga County has slowly started taking strides towards academic excellence, thanks to realistic measures put in place by the hardworking Chief Principal, Rose Koech.
The school had over 502 students scoring above the minimum university entry grade of C+ and above with a mean of 7.606 translating to 82.52 per cent, and battling for the top spot with other academic giants in the area.
“Teamwork, a dedicated staff, hard work, discipline, early syllabus coverage and above all our belief in the Supreme God has kept us moving,” says, Madam Rose Koech.

According to the Principal, the impressive performance was a result of collective efforts from all the stakeholders like the teachers, parents, students and the supportive community not forgetting the super support from the political wing led by area Member of Parliament Hon. Charles Gimose and Banja Ward MCA Collins Anyanje Ayugu.
Mrs Koech avers that she joined the school in 2020 on delocalisation having served in other prestigious schools with a rich history in performance like Sing’ore Girls and when she joined Goibei Girls she introduced other programmes that were not in school but were in other schools where she served before.
“I must acknowledge the good work done by our great teachers. They have always done their best by being in class very early and leaving very late just for the sake of the dear candidates,” she said.

She said the 2024 class was very big and was prepared it well. The class was subjected to rigorous tests not limited to exposure to external and internal exams and the teachers also being so close to them.
Beng Pentecostal Assemblies of God ( PAG ) institution, the school takes spiritual matters very seriously as we also believe that a healthy body and a healthy mind must work together.
Hamisi Member of Parliament Hon. Charles Gimose lauded the school administration led by the able madam Principal for steering the leading girls’ school in Hamisi Sub-county in the right direction and promised to support her fully.

“This is my best school and I love what is being done here,” said Gimose.
The school has already put in measures for the 2025 class and they promise to ride on measures already in place to see to it that the school impresses in exams in achieving the 100% in 2025.
Madam Rose Koech has been hailed for instilling discipline and confidence in the girls and this also boosted the self-esteem of the girls and this was evidenced in performance.. Rose has set the bar very high at Goibei Girls High School.
