Wang’apala High School in Kasipul Kabondo Sub-county of Homabay County has solidified its status as a leading academic powerhouse in South Nyanza following its stellar performance in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2024 results.
The leading boys’ school recorded an impressive mean of 8.00 (C+), with 438 out of 490 students scoring above the minimum university entry grade of C+ and above.

The school’s impressive mean saw over 11 students score A- (minus), 36 B+ (plus), 116 B (plain), 159 B- (minus), 159 C+ (plus), 44 C (plain) and 7 C- (minus).
Notably, only 8 students scored below the C plain grade.
The School’s Senior Principal, Mr Joseph Odoro Omollo, expressed pride in the school’s achievements, attributing success to early syllabus coverage, dedicated teaching staff, disciplined students, and the super support from the parents and other stakeholders, not forgetting the area Member of Parliament.
My ultimate goal as the Head of the Institution is ensuring that Wanga’pala remains at the helm of academics and sports in Homa Bay and South Nyanza in general.

“The consistent university transition has cemented our reputation in academics as over 89 per cent of our students got direct entry grades to the university,” Mr Odoro said.
He adds that, the 2025 class is a very good one and that they are aiming at 100 per cent university transition owing to the level of preparedness they are going to subject the candidate class to.
“Our history is so pronounced and we are going to ride on measures that we have used before to see to it that we impress again in 2025,” he said.
