Matungu sub-county in Kakamega County will be a beehive of festivities this holiday season as a mouthful of events have been lined up to keep the locals entertained throughout the period.

Nabongo Cultural Centre alias Eshiembekho in Matungu will host high ranking musicians in the country on 25th and 26th of December 2022.

On Christmas Day, the popular Maroon Commandos will be performing live at Eshiembekho ground.

On Boxing day, Eshiembekho will play host to the Ohangla kingpin Tony Nyadundo. This will be the first time, that Nyadundo will be performing in Matungu.

According to event organisers, Plus One Solutions and Nabongo Cultural Centre, many people from Western Region at large are expected to attend the event.

“We expect many people from the Western Region to turn up for the event given that both Maroon Commandos and Tony Nyadundo are loved by majority of the people countrywide,” Mr Mumia, the events coordinator said.

He noted that holidays should be used to bring unity through togetherness, generosity and gratitude.

“This is a time for the community to come together and bond. It is through such that our culture is nurtured,” he said.

He added, “We have great sons of the soil across the country and it is only this time that we can meet them and share our issues with them since majority come home to be with their family during the festive season. Also, we can’t afford to forego our culture and that’s why I saw it good to come up with something that can bring us together and that thing is Music.”

Nabongo Cultural Centre is located 2 kilometres off Mumias, Busia Road.

Sabila Kassim, the manager at Eshiembekho has assured those who will be attending the event never to worry of anything as elaborate plans have been put in place to cater for the interests of everyone.

“Security of our guests is our priority and we have put everything in place to ensure that it will be top-notch. No one should worry about their security,” Sabila said.

Food and drinks will also be in plenty.

Let’s meet and party at Eshiembekho on 25th and 26th of December.
