The Class of 2023 all set.

There was pomp and colour at St Cecilia Nangina Girls High School in Funyula as 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates were prayed for ahead of their forthcoming national exams.

Fr. Christopher Barasa of Nangina parish presided over the mass for the students and administered special prayers to the 2023 KCSE candidates while asking them not to be afraid of anything as nothing will come outside what they have been taught in class.

Father Chris reiterated that their past represents textbooks, the present represents the interpretation and the future is all about application.

“You’ve had a lot of text books; a lot of interpretation has been done by these great teachers and now what remains of you is the application of the same which will determine who you become,” he said.

The school Senior Principal Victoria Alukum asked the candidates to remain focused and courageous.

“You are the reason we are gathered here today. You have a lot and we have given you a lot and you have got no reason to worry about anything in the forthcoming exams,” said the Chief Principal.

She noted teachers have done their best by being selfless, getting to class very early and leaving very late just to ensure that the students get the best.

“Your parents have also done the best especially in fees payment and now it’s your time to make the school and your parents proud,” the Principal said.

She added, “When you joined this school in 2020, you had a vision on who you wanted to become, and the time to unlock that dream is now. There is nothing that you will meet in the exam that these great teachers never taught you. We have prepared you well so it is upon you to make us top.”

She further said it is the best class that she has ever had and as a school they are certain that the class of 2023 is going to be a record-breaking one with a mean of 7.5 and above with several candidates getting above the minimum university entry grade.

“I want you to know that, all eyes are on you and with the preparation that w have given you, you’ll definitely impress,” she reminded them.

Deputy Principal, Mrs Roselidah asked the candidates to approach the exams as if they are approaching their future, for their tomorrow is now.

“All that you need is to ask for the mind that can remember everything that you were taught ever since you joined Form One in 2020,” the Deputy Principal said.

Madam Tracy Wamukoya avers that 2023 is going to be a record breaker and that the elusive grade A is going to find its way this year owing to how promising the class is.

“We have walked the journey together and I am optimistic that you are going to do us proud,” said Madam Tracy.

Mr Makwata, the director of studies in the school, challenged the girls by referring them as future professional.

“When I look at these pretty faces, I see lawyers, engineers, pilots, Cabinet Secretaries, first ladies among other serious titles. We have prepared you pretty well to become who you want to become in the long-run. Let us work hard by putting in mind that we want to become a better version of ourselves,” he said.

A total of 413 candidates will be sitting for the forthcoming exam with a mean of 7.5 being targeted.

Several teachers handling candidates were feted and celebrated by the candidates.

Television sets, water dispensers, gas cookers, stranding burners, plates were among the gifts that the teachers received.
