For many women in Matungu, a small financial boost can mean much more than just money.

It can mean restocking a shop, expanding a poultry project, adding stock to a small business, paying school fees or putting food on the table when times are difficult.

That is the spirit behind a fresh women empowerment initiative by Matungu MP Hon. Peter Oscar Nabulindo, who has continued to take his development agenda closer to the people.

Following the successful Matungu Women Empowerment Drive at Mirere, Nabulindo continued with the initiative by distributing financial support to women groups across the constituency.

The objective is simple — help women grow their small businesses, create reliable sources of income and build stronger households.

For the women involved, the support comes at a time when the cost of running a family and sustaining a small business continues to put pressure on household incomes.

Nabulindo believes that empowering women is one of the most practical ways of transforming communities from the grassroots.

The MP says the assistance will help women groups strengthen their SMEs, expand income-generating activities and create opportunities that can benefit not only individual members but their families as well.

His approach has increasingly been associated with a leadership style that puts emphasis on staying close to ordinary residents and responding to issues at the community level.
