Magunga Secondary School warmly welcomed its new principal, Tom Mboya Amadi, in a ceremony attended by staff, the Board of Management (BOM), students, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), and the Ministry of Education.
The event marked a significant moment for the school, with stakeholders expressing optimism about his leadership and its potential impact on academic performance, particularly in mathematics.
County Director of Education Expresses Confidence
Kisumu County Director of Education, Madam Rosemary, lauded Mr Amadi’s appointment, describing him as a vital academic resource for the county.
She highlighted his expertise as a mathematics teacher trainer, expressing confidence that his presence would elevate maths performance across Kisumu.
“We are delighted to receive you back to Kisumu County with open arms,” Madam Rosemary said. “Your track record speaks for itself, and we believe your leadership will inspire both teachers and learners.”

A Stellar Career in Education
Before his promotion to Magunga Secondary School, Mr. Amadi served as the principal of God Ber Secondary School in Homa Bay County, where he left an impressive legacy—boosting the school’s mean score to 8.1 and transforming the lives of many students.
His 17-year tenure in Kisumu prior to his Homa Bay assignment further solidifies his deep connection with the region’s education sector.
Commitment to Transformative Leadership
In his address, Mr. Amadi pledged to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor, Dr. Patrick Odher, by improving infrastructure and academic performance.
He emphasized collaborative leadership, stating that teamwork, a peaceful environment, and hard work are key to achieving excellence.
“I will work closely with all stakeholders—teachers, students, and parents—to ensure Magunga Secondary School reaches new heights,” he said. “Every student will have the opportunity to realize their full potential.”
Focus on Mathematics and Servant Leadership
Recognized for his expertise in mathematics, Mr. Amadi vowed to make the subject more popular and accessible to students. Additionally, he stressed the importance of servant leadership, promising to lead by example.
“I will be a classroom teacher first, then an administrator,” he affirmed. “My door will always be open, and I am ready to serve with humility and dedication.”
As he steps into his new role, the school community remains optimistic about the positive changes his leadership will bring.
Mr Amadi also extended his best wishes to Dr Odher in his new posting, acknowledging his transformative contributions to Magunga Secondary School.
