It was pomp and colour as the Salvation Army Kolanya Girls’ National School fraternity held a thrilling and jovial thanksgiving ceremony following the stellar 2024 KCSE performance.

The celebratory mood among the community of teaching staff, students, parents and support staff was witnessed during the prayer exercise which was led by the Salvation Army church and other religious leaders who attributed the stellar achievements to dedication to God through serious and regular prayers.

Dr Tabitha Okama, the school Principal thanked the community for being united in pursuit of success for the Form Four students.

“The synergy between all the concerned stakeholders including parents who respond promptly to the needs of the students, a dedicated teaching staff, a disciplined and prayerful student population and a very supportive non-teaching staff was excellent,” she said.

According to Dr OKama, they are now focused on the future and urged the 2025 candidate class to focus on the set target for 2025.

“We stopped talking of the past results, it is now your turn to perform, resilience is the way. I also urge you to love and protect your school at all times and always put God first and everything will fall in place,” she said.

She thanked the area Member of Parliament Hon. Oku Kaunya and Busia County Governor for their goodwill toward the school. She said there was a political goodwill from the political representation in Busia.

Busia County Governor was represented by his long-time ally Mr Douglas Ejakait Okiring who urged the students to put in more effort to see to it that the school remains at the helm of academics in Busia and the region.

Mr Okiring who is also the outgoing Board of Management (BoM) member in charge of finance gave a personal donation from Governor Otuoma of Ksh100,000 as a recognition of their excellence and motivation to continue striving for academic success.

Kolanya Girls National School emerged as the leading school in Busia County with a mean score of 8.04 in last year’s KCSE with 4 students scoring plain A’s.

Having set standards very high, the school plans to ride on measures already in place among them, early syllabus coverage, exposure to rigorous tests, teamwork and dedication from the candidate to enable the 2025 class impress even more in academics.

Jubilant Principal, Dr Okama congratulated the 2024 class noting that it was their hard work and discipline that earned them good results.
