St Peters Mumias Boys High School, a leading boys’ school in Kakamega County held a successful Form One orientation that brought together over 800 parents.
The Form One class christened the ‘Eagles’ has already set a mean score for 2027 at 10.5
Speaking during the event the School Chief Principal Mr Chrispinus Owino hailed the parents for choosing St Peters High School and asked the parents to support the school programmes for better results.
According to the Chief Principal, quality education is very expensive and a lot of measures have to be put in place for super results.
Early syllabus coverage, motivated staff, timely fee payment, conducive learning environment are among the measures that the school will be putting in place for better results.
“We want to complete the syllabus by 2026 so that by the time they get to Form Four, they will only be revising,” the Chief Principal said.
He asked parents to co-operate with the administration especially on medical issues of their children following the termination of EDU AFYA which used to cover the welfare of the students.
“It is now the responsibility of the parent to shoulder the medical costs of their sons and we ask those with medical insurance cards to enlist the adjacent St Marys Mission Hospital. The school only takes care of minor illness and first,” said Mr Owino.
Deputy Principal Academics Mr Joel Mukochi assured parents that as a school they are going to do everything humanly possible to see to it that they realise supermen from the boys.
Mr Mukochi pointed out that there are over 878 students in Form One being handled by 110 teachers in 12 streams.
It is worth noting the school has a history of posting impressive results and the current Form Ones who will be KCSE candidates in 2027 are not an exception.
According to Mr Patrick Okaya the Director of Studies, parents were informed that the school does not condone any form of academic indiscipline and they expect students to copy notes, do assignments and attend all classes.
The leading school offers a minimum of 58 examinable subjects but a student is only allowed to sit for 11.
A minimum of two exams are administered to students per term and students are expected to pass or risk being discontinued.
The school issues report forms in various colours like green, yellow and red.
A red colour report form is a dangerous one as students who are issued with it risk being discontinued.
Parents were also asked to download ZERAKI analytics to closely monitor the academic progress of their students.
It was noted that at St Peters High School, there is no time lost as programmes are congested. Teachers are said to be in class as early as 5 a.m. up to 10 p.m.
“We want quality results in 2027 and our target has already been set,” said Mr Mulama.
He added, “Nothing is going to stand in our way. As an Eagle, we are going to fly very high and be able to see even in the future. We are not going to allow any student who will score beyond 700 marks in an exam as we move forward.”
Mulama implored parents to ensure their children adhere to stipulated guidelines, and results will impress.
Father Joseph Likule, the school Chaplain, asked all the stakeholders to work together for the betterment of the school.
According to him, the school was established by the missionaries to nurture people and asked the parents to support the nurturing of their sons as nothing beats a man of value.
“Be close to your son. Do not shout at your teachers. Pay close attention to who your son associates with, who they walk with and whom they engage with. Talk to them and guide them accordingly,” reminded Father Likule.
Mr Danstan Kukubo, the school Parents Teachers Association (PTA) chair asked parents to make timely fee payments to avoid interruptions with the school calendar with a special emphasis on remedial.
“Remedials are the academic engine of the school as they enable the syllabus to be completed in time. Parents should cooperate with the school administration,” he said.
Sam Vidambu, a renowned motivational speaker was the chief guest of the day and he assured parents that there will be change if their sons post impressive results in 2027.
According to Sam, results do just come, but a lot of sacrifices, commitment, hard work and the belief in the Supreme God is what brings super results.
Parents were asked to support the school programmes and asked the students not to dwell so much on what they got in KCPE exam but to focus on the ultimate goal of getting quality grades in 2027.
