St Peters Mumias High School in the heart of Mumias Town has revealed the secret behind their successful sending of 515 students directly to the university in the last Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

The academic giant in the region posted impressive results in the 2023 KCSE with the top candidate scoring an A (plain).

According to the school Chief Principal Mr Chrispinus Owino, hard work, discipline, dedicated staff, support from parents and guardians and spiritual guidance from the Catholic Church are among the factors that contributed to positive results.

Mr Owino who joined the school last year from Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School in Kisii County attributes results to proper preparation of candidates and providing a conducive environment for the learners, as among the factors that also contributed to good results.

“You cannot realise quality results in a hostile environment. The school did everything to ensure that the learners had a better environment for them to give us quality results,” says Mr Owino.

St Peters High School has a known history of posting impressive results over the years and the learner is guided right from Form One to Four and this has worked very positively.

The school recorded A 1, A- 36, B+72, B 155, B- 175, and C+76.

“Quality education is very expensive and for positive to be realised, a lot of effort has to be put in,” he says.

Mwalimu asked parents to support the school, especially in timely fee payments to enable the smooth running of school operations.

“If parents do their part effectively, results will come. I am glad that we have boys who understand what they want in life and this makes running the school easier as cases of indiscipline are very minimal,” he says.

Mwalimu Owino has taught in some renowned schools among them St Mathias Mwitoti in Mumias East, and Cardinal Otunga High School Mosocho before his transfer to St Peters Mumias and his record in all the schools remains unmatched.
