If there is a school being talked about a lot in Busia County then it is ACK Busiada Girls High School, thanks to the good work being done by the most performing Chief Principal Judith Okanda.

The leading girls’ school has a history of posting impressive results and in last year’s KCSE, they recorded a mean of 8.017 and were ranked third in the county shy of Butula Boys and Kolanya Girls.

A total of 120 candidates scored above the minimum university entry grade of C+ and above with the top two students scoring an A- (minus).

Early syllabus coverage, committed teachers, teamwork, a very supportive Board of Management, a conducive school environment and support from the area Member of Parliament Hon. Michael Oyula is what have seen the school stand the test of time and be propelled to the apex of academics in Busia County.

The guiding motto: Unleash Your Potential, has always motivated learners to always want to be the better versions of themselves and teachers, who are the key stakeholders, have always guided them towards realising that.

Speaking to this writer, Chief Principal Judith Okanda noted they expected good results owing to quality preparations for the class of 2023 and promised that the school will still impress in exams as long as she is still in charge.

“Exposure to external exams is also one of the factors that contributed to the good results. Our students are customised to exams as they did over seventeen full exams in the entire year,” she said.

Mr Risper Obam, the school deputy principal notes that discipline and results are intertwined.

“Our girls are very disciplined and we hardly experience indiscipline cases in the school as our girls understand the purpose of their being in this great school. They have been awesome girls and as an administrator, we wish them well in the future,” he said.

Top candidates, Angeline Asikuku ( A-),Laura Atoni ( A-)

Laura Atoni the top girl scored an A- of 74 and has had kind words for her teachers and the school terming it the best place she has been to.

“I don’t know what happens in other schools around but what I know is ACK Busiada Girls is the best girls’ school I know. We have very friendly teachers, and a very supportive principal and the only school where the interests of the student come first. I expected more than I scored and I remain grateful to the Almighty God for making this happen,” said Laurah.

Another top candidate Angelina Asikuku (A-) also heaped praises on her teachers for preparing them well.

“We completed the syllabus early to give more room for revision and I am glad that our hard work, teamwork and prayers paid off,” she said.

Asikuku wants to pursue a career in journalism at the University of Nairobi.
