Nambale Magnet School in Nambale Busia County has once again broken the record in performance by over 7 candidates scoring over 400 marks in the just released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results.
Speaking at the school, the Director Rev. Everlyn Wakhusama said that the top student Shawn Odipo got 417 marks making him the top student in Busia County.
The school registered a mean of 377.6 which is a positive deviation from the last year.
Rev. Wakhusama said early syllabus coverage, team work, dedicated staff, discipline and the believe in God is what has seen the school stand the test of time.
“We emphasise on discipline and hard work. My teachers are always in class early and leave very late just to see to it the candidates are prepared well. We know that education is the only equaliser that we know and we advise our pupils that for them to change the situation at their homes and lead a better future, they must start by passing their exams,” she said.
She added, “We always tell them that amongst them, there are future engineers, lawyers, doctors, presidents, governor, first ladies among other senior titles and this advice and counselling always challenges the pupils to work very hard to become the best person in future.”
She noted that by challenging that they can only become a lawyer or an engineer if they pass their exams and pursue a career of their choice, this coupled by several guiding sessions, make them better.
“We had 40 candidates and 37 of them scored above 350 marks. We take matters education very serious and we have never gambled. I want to ask the community to entrust us with their children and we will nurture them into responsible citizens,” she said.
She further noted the bible teaches that train up a child in a way he should go and he will not depart from it when he grows up. This has been the guiding principle as they hold child development close to their hearts.
