St Cecilia Nangina Girls High School has continued setting the pace for other girls’ schools in Busia County, thanks to the exemplary leadership by Chief Principal Victoria Ashiono.
The soft spoken Principal has steered the school towards having a history of posting impressive results in national examinations, something that has made it stand out, year in year out.
“Early syllabus coverage, discipline, a dedicated staff, team work and above all our belief in supreme God is what guides us,” Mrs Ashiono says.
She notes that there is nothing under the sun that is impossible, as everything starts with the right mindset.
“We have beautiful girls in this school and all of them know their purpose of being here. We guide them accordingly so that they can be responsible citizens after their time in this school ends,” she says.
She adds, “My teachers are a motivated lot. We work as a team for realisation of better results. You cannot realise results in a hostile environment and as the centre manager together with stakeholders, we have put in proper structures to enable both the learners and teachers have a conducive environment for better results.”
She further says the school’s sponsor, the church, has done so much for the school as they are always around for spiritual guidance which has worked positively for them.
“When I joined this school a few years ago, we had a fair share of challenges but I am glad that I got a supportive team of stakeholders whom we reasoned together and a lasting solution for the school was reached and the going is very great,” she says.
Mrs Victoria is a renown performer and her work speak for itself.
While at Holly Cross Emalindi Girls and St Agnes Shibuye Girls in Kakamega County, her good performance and management remains in the minds of many.
Speaking to this writer in Busia town, Morris Ojiambo a parent said that the principal has done so much within a very short time.
“I was a parent in the school between 2006 to 2009 and again 2022 but a lot has changed. I am impressed by modern structures being put up and the principal is very understanding and approachable unlike some years back,” Mr Ojiambo said.
He noted the principal understands the needs of the community and she hardly has issues with the community, something that has made her a darling of many.
“We are proud of her and we are going to support her being here. For real, Madam Chief Principal is the safe pair of hand for this great school,” he said.
Area Member of Parliament Dr Oundo Mudenyo also had kind words for the Madam Chief Principal whom she claims to be one of the best managers owing to how she plans and implements school projects.
“Mwalimu knows her role. I am proud to be associated with her above all, the school’s performance in Samia remains unmatched,” he said.
It has been noted that the 2023 class is the amongst the best that the school has had, and the Principal noted they are putting everything within their disposal to see to it the school emerges top in the forthcoming national exams.
