Police are investigating an incident where a catholic priest died while in company of his girlfriend at a local hotel.

The deceased identified as Joseph Kariuki who served as a priest of the Catholic church, diocese of Nairobi is reported to have checked in to Monalisa Hotel in Muranga County in company of his girlfriend.

According to police, the clergyman who is also a renowned farmer serving at St. Peters Parish in Ruai spent the night with the lady who is believed to be his workmate at the church.

In the morning at around 8 a.m. the 32 year-old lady identified as Ruth Nduhi notified the hotel management that her boyfriend was not feeling well and that he was unconscious.

The staff together with Nduhi rushed the deceased to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

While confirming the incident, Muranga County Commander Kainga Mathiu said police officers were notified about the incident, where they rushed and found the body half covered with hotel bedsheets.

“The police processed the scene and moved the body to Mater Hospital mortuary in Nairobi under the escort of police officers pending autopsy and further police action,” Mathiu said.

Sources say the deceased had foam oozing from the mouth and the nose.
