Peter Kalerwa Salasya alias PK is arguably one of the most performing Member of Parliament from Western Region and in the country at large.
PK, as he is commonly known, was elected on a little known Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) that is associated with former Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon. Eugene Ludovic Wamalwa.
With just a few months in office, PK has done so much for the people of Mumias East and a lot continues to be witnessed on the ground.
The youngest MP in the august House has continued building a name for himself in the political circles going by his development agenda to the people of Mumias East.
As other Members of Parliament continue yapping about the delay in CDF disbursement by the national government, PK is buying buses, drilling boreholes, upgrading C41 roads in Mumias East among many other projects.
Pundits aver that, it will be an uphill task to unseat PK in Mumias East going by what he’s doing to his people.
“The guy is full of surprises. No one has ever done what this boy is doing. Five schools received school buses courtesy of CDF something that baffled many,” Moses Were from Mumias East said.
“I had nothing when I was campaigning and the great people of Mumias East who are my employers believed in me and entrusted me with their votes. There is no way I am going to disappoint them by not delivering what I promised,” points PK.
He notes that he promised so much during campaigns and wants to assure the people that as their faithful servant, he won’t let them down.
“I am going to ensure that students get bursaries, roads are improved, manage water shortage among many others within my capacity which I am already implementing,” he says.
A borehole is being drilled at Mwitoti area and the perennial water shortage is almost coming to an end.
Wanga Technical Training College has also been re-energised by the hard working MP as he has resolved to award scholarships to students who will join the college.
“Education is the only equaliser that I know. I want us to have many students in our technical colleges and this can only be achieved if we give immense support to it,” he said.
This is the only technical college that is in Mumias East and he says he wants his people to embrace it so that it can get some life.
“Not all students qualify for universities and I humbly ask those who did not qualify to consider joining the college to get skills and I will award them scholarships,”pointed PK.
He adds, “We have an elaborate plan to upgrade the structural design of Shianda KMTC and we already have an architectural design for the college.”
He said he wants to have one of the best facilities at the KMTC as it plans to roll out other prestigious courses like pharmacy and community health nursing.
Following the impressive performance in the just released KCSE exams by Mumias East schools, the youthful legislator has promised to organise mentorship programs to students so that the good performance can be maintained.
“I am proud that I brought together over 3000 students for a mentorship program and it yielded results. A lot more will be done this year,” he said.
Among the roads that are earmarked for upgrade are :
Eluche-Mung’ang’a-Bumini Road.
Bumuni-Khaimba-Nyaporo-Isongo Road.
KMTC-Mungabira-Shikulu Road Indangalasia-Kamashia-Eshikufu Road.
Many people thought that PK won’t deliver as he was young, unmarried and broke but he has silenced the prophets of doom by being on the ground and doing so much within a very short period,” pointed Hamis from Mumias town.
